Come along for a truly remarkable one-day trip to the uninhabited island of Deserta Grande. Desertas islands, that can be seen on the horizon from Madeira, have an entirely different geology and are home to a diversity of wildlife: 16 species of birds, feral goats, rodents, wolf spiders, reptiles and monk seals.
The Desertas islands have been constituted a nature reserve and the only regular human presence are wardens and geologists.
In this trip we’ll anchor at the shelter bay near the warden’s research station where you can swim in a very enjoyable calm water. After lunch we’ll have a 45 minute guided tour through the island and then come back to Funchal.
